Stella & Dot

Hello Friends!

I'm excited to tell you about my new business venture! I decided it was time to do something FUN and just for me! I've always had a passion for design and style, and now I can share that passion with friends.

I've found my passion in a boutique-style accessories company called Stella & Dot. What I love most about representing the Stella & Dot line is that people absolutely adore the jewelry. I also love that I get to work with people like you and that a Stella & Dot Trunk Show is so much fun, and simple, too. It's wonderful to see women taking well-deserved time to indulge in a little style and friendship, two of my favorite things!

You may have seen the line featured in InStyle, Lucky, People, Glamour, or Oprah. The line is not available in stores and includes semi-precious stones, sterling silver and gold heirloom pieces. There are also lots of trend setting styles in the $40 range...what a steal!

I would love to help you host a Stella & Dot Trunk Show with your girlfriends. It’s a great way to share a glass of wine and a laugh, while shopping for a fashionable jewelry wardrobe. As a Hostess, you earn free jewelry and accessories (average of $250) and can shop at ½ off. At any time, you can also visit my website to see some of the everyday and versatile style solutions in Stella & Dot’s line. If an in home show isn't the right fit, we have other hosting options too. Just contact me and we can discuss! Can’t wait to catch up with you soon, and get you some FREE jewelry!

Influenster Relaunch & their 2012 Naturals VoxBox

Influenster's 2012 Naturals VoxBox

So Influenster has had a reboot of their site recently. I like it so far although it takes some getting used to if you are used to the old ways. I like how fast everything is and how quickly the badges activate but there are some confusing parts too. Like I didn't know I was limited on the amount of expert badges I could get. I am sure it said it on there somewhere but I must have missed it. I went through filling them out without really picking my favorites and am now stuck with some I may not have necessarily chosen had I known. Oh well not the end of the world though.
There is an overwhelming amount of things you can do now, and a new point system has been added. I'm on the fence about that one currently. We'll see how it goes though. I am just trying to get used to all the changes. The site is FAST now though I'll say that.

I also wanted to say that the most recent VoxBox that I have received was the 2012 Naturals VoxBox. You may have already seen my reviews on it's contents. Inside was a variety of products that are supposed to be "green" or organic in nature. This was probably the least exciting box I've gotten so far but you can't complain about free stuff lol. I have a picture posted about showing the contents which are as follows: The Original Dish Drying Mat, Lypsyl LypMoisturizer, EBoost Beverage Powder, CleanWell Hand Sanitizer Wipe, GeoDeo Deodorant, Nectresse Sweetener, and SheaMoisture Baby Bar Soap. For detailed reviews on these please see the corresponding blog entries :) Hope they help!

CleanWell Natural Hand Sanitizer Wipes

In the Influenster 2012 Naturals VoxBox I received a CleanWell Hand Sanitizer Wipe. It's a one time use packet that kills germs with all natural ingredients. It smelled pretty good. I think it worked well but seeing as I had no way to test for germs I can't say if it killed them or not. But it was a good hand/face wipe. I liked that it was in an individual packet travel form which is convenient for purses or diaper bags.
At retail a box of 50 wipes is a whopping $30. I don't know but this seems very high to me. I know it's all natural but I wouldn't pay it. It's too pricey for me. I'll stick to Purell and the like.

SheaMoisture Baby Bar Soap

In tbe Influenster 2012 Natural Vox Box I received the SheaMoisture Baby Bar Soap. It's a really nice bar of soap. It's very moisturizing and worked great for my toddler and I. It is enriched with unrefined "raw" shea butter, argan oil, chamomile extract, frankincense, and myrrh. Another great thing is it's sulfate free so it's pretty gentle for children and even babies. It naturally soothes inflammation, irritation, and itching associated with eczema. We don't typically have eczema in our family but we do live in an area where the winter can be HARSH which equals dry skin. This is a welcome addition to our fight against winter itch.
It retails for $4.99 for a 5oz bar which I think is a great price point and it is worth the price. This is a GOOD BUY.

EBoost Powdered Drink

I received EBoost in the Influenster 2012 Naturals VoxBox that was sent to me. It's an easy to mix powder that you can add to water. It comes in 4 flavors, Orange, Pink Lemonade, Acai Pomegranate, and Super Berry. I got the orange flavor. It didn't taste bad, but from the color I guess I was hoping for it to taste like Tang lol. It was more like a really bland version if at all. It's the 80's kid in me I guess. It's supposed to help boost mood, focus, and immunity with natural ingredients and no crash. It worked somewhat, but in my opinion it wasn't as successful as a cup of coffee. If you need to avoid caffeine though this would be a good substitute.
The HUGE drawback in my mind is the price. It's kind of crazy to me. $28 for a box of 20 powder packets, $39 for 30, and $39 for a box of 12 in a drinkable shot form. Too pricey for me, I'll stick to coffee and in extreme emergency cases Red Bull.

The Original Dish Drying Mat

Another product I received in the Influenster 2012 Naturals VoxBox was The Original Dish Drying Mat. It's a pretty neat thing. It's used to places dishes on or to put your dish rack on top of and it's supposed to absorb the water that comes off the dishes. It's supposed to be eco- friendly by conserving energy and paper towels by air drying, and saves water by hand washing. I don't know about all that but it did do a good job absorbing water. I can see how it would save paper towels but if you are going to use the dishwasher there is no need to take them out and do something else since the water can just go to the bottom of the washer. I don't usually use a dish mat by the way. I have a double sink so I just put the dish rack in the sink I don't use and the excess water just goes down the drain. If I did need a dish mat though, this one would be great. It absorbs well like I said and drys fast after the fact. I wish it came in more color options but I am sure as I am typing this they are already coming up with that.
It retails for $4.99 which is a steal I think. You can't beat that price and it's a good product if you need a dish mat. It's a GOOD BUY for those who use mats.

LypSyl Intense Protection LypMoisturizer

So I received the 2012 Naturals VoxBox from Influenster and one of the products inside was the Lypsyl LypMoisturizer. I was really happy to receive a product like this because I have a toddler who is prone to chapped lips so I love anything that can help with that.
The first thing I noticed was the cute packaging. On the side there is a little bee which you use to move the the lip balm up and down. LOVE IT. Makes sense since it's made with Swedish Beeswax. It also contains organic shea butter, and vitamins A and E.
The product worked great. It wasn't greasy or too heavy feeling. I liked it and would buy it again. It retails for $2.87-$2.99 which is pretty reasonable I think. So my final verdict is it is a GOOD BUY.

Sign My Petition Against Gender Pricing Discrimination

Chromosomes are not reason enough for something to cost more when it is practically the same thing. So many "women's" products cost more for no apparent reason. Things like razors and body wash are a dollar to several dollars more just because they are pink or because they smell like a flower instead of musk. Several other states, including New York, have passed similar laws protecting consumers and it's time Illinois had the same protection. If something truly cost more to make then by all means I can understand why it would cost more, but there are several products that are the same just different color or in different gender based packaging that are priced more just because they know we have no choice and will pay for it. This is not for women alone. There are several "men's" products and services priced higher than the same products and services for women. We need equality and fairness in our pricing. We can not let manufacturers and brands get away with this.
